The course focuses on the limited-line licensing rules and bail bond concepts a New Jersey candidate needs to understand before taking the producer examination.
Bail, surety and appearance bonds, principals, indemnitors, sureties, recognizance, powers of attorney and the terminology used in bail bond transactions.
Limited-line producer authority, licensing requirements, producer responsibilities, contractual relationships, recordkeeping, standards of conduct and prohibited practices.
Collateral and indemnity concepts, fiduciary responsibility, trust accounting, premiums, premium financing and the handling of funds and documentation.
Forfeiture and exoneration concepts, surrender procedures, fugitive recovery topics, criminal-court context and New Jersey laws and regulations governing bail bond activity.
New Jersey treats Bail Bonds as a limited line of producer authority. Resident applicants generally complete the required education, pass the applicable examination, complete the state’s background-review steps and submit a producer license application.
Resident Limited Lines – Bail Bonds applicants who do not qualify for an education waiver complete the state’s 10-hour prelicensing requirement through an approved insurance education provider.
After satisfying the applicable education requirement, schedule and pass the New Jersey Bail Bond Producer examination through PSI unless a current examination exception applies.
Resident producer applicants are subject to New Jersey’s criminal-history review and should follow the current NJDOBI instructions for fingerprinting and background processing.
Submit the producer application for the Limited Lines – Bail Bonds authority and satisfy the current state licensing fees and application requirements.
PSI’s New Jersey Bail Bond Producer examination outline currently lists 50 items, a 70% minimum passing score and 3.5 hours of testing time.
